Awarded annually, on a non-academic basis, to an undergraduate student who is currently registered in Year 2, 3 or 4 in Arts and Humanities or Social Science and who demonstrates involvement with student life either on or off campus. Recipients will be notified by Alumni Relations & Development of their selection for the award by March 31. Students in Year 4, who are graduating, will be asked to provide current contact information so that they can be reached in the fall when the award payment is made.

Application Form

Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student entering third or fourth year of an Honors degree with an Honors Specialization or double Major in Political Science, based on academic achievement (minimum 70% average) and financial need. Candidates must also demonstrate their involvement with volunteer work at the University and/or in the community by submitting a one-page statement describing their volunteer efforts and how their efforts have benefited others. Registrarial contents will determine financial need and a committee within the Department of Political Science will select the recipient. This award was established by the parents and grandparents of Andrew Barnes (BA, Political Science '05) through Foundation Western. Andrew is remembered by those who knew and loved him for his commitment to voluntary work on campus (particularly Foot Patrol), love of sports, academic excellence, sense of humour, and warm personality that endeared him to friends and family and earned him respect from peers and faculty.

Awarded to an undergraduate student in any year beyond year one of a program in Social Science based on academic achievement (minimum 80% average). Primary preference will be given to students in History and secondary preference will be given to students in Economics. The Faculty of Social Science will select the recipient. This scholarship was established by a generous gift from Dr. W. Donald R. Eldon (BA '48).
Scholarship Value: $1,500
Awarded to three undergraduate students in Year 2 of an Honors program in Economics or History who demonstrate financial need and have a minimum academic average of 80%. The scholarships will continue as long as recipients remain in an Honors Economics or History program, demonstrate financial need, and maintain an 80% average in a full-time course load. Established by a generous donation from the Godsoe family.
Three scholarships valued at $1,000 each
Awarded to an undergraduate student in any year of any program wishing to study abroad for a minimum of one semester, based on demonstrated financial need and academic achievement (minimum 80% average). Preference will be given to a student studying at an accredited university in Israel, and to a student attending a full-year course over a one-semester course. Application forms and details regarding the application process can be obtained from the Student Center. The deadline date for submissions is April 30. The award recipient will be announced in May of each year, but receipt of the award is dependent on an approved Letter of Permission and acceptance into an accredited university for study abroad. This award was established by Mr. Ellis Jacob.

Awarded to the student in an Honors Bachelor degree with the highest standing in third year of a double Major in English Language and Literature and History, tenable in fourth year. Established in memory of Dr. Thomas E. Carr, BA '35.

Awarded to a full-time undergraduate student in second, third or fourth year of an Honors Specialization, Major or Minor in Political Science, based on academic achievement (minimum 80% average) and involvement in student politics such as the University Students' Council, Board of Governors, Political Science Association or other campus political clubs. A one-page statement outlining this involvement must be submitted to the Political Science Departmental Office by September 30th. A scholarship committee within the Faculty of Social Science will select the recipient. This scholarship was established by a generous gift from Mark (BA '88, Honors Political Science) and Andrea McQueen.

One award will be made every other year to a fourth-year student who is pursuing an Honors Specialization in History or a double Major in History combined with Economics, Political Science, Mathematics, or Statistics. Biennially, a second award will be made to a fourth-year student who is pursuing an Honors Specialization in Economics or a double Major in Economics combined with History, Political Science, Mathematics, or Statistics. Candidates must have achieved a minimum 'A' average in the third year of their honors degree program and have demonstrated financial need. Recipients will be selected on the basis of their potential as scholars and their promise for distinguished achievement after graduation as reflected by demonstrated leadership and other personal qualities. These scholarships are awarded to two fourth-year full-time honors students with an average of at least 80% in third year. Awarded annually to a student in second, third, or fourth year in the Faculty of Social Science who has achieved at least a 75% average while demonstrating leadership in the community and participating in extra-curricular activities. Application forms are available from the Office of the Registrar's web site and the Office of the Dean, Faculty of Social Science and must be submitted no later than September 30. The recipient will be chosen by the Faculty of Social Science scholarship committee. Established in 1997 trough the generosity of Western Parents.
Award Value: $750
Available to full-time students registered in the third year of study in the Faculty of Social Science at The University of Western Ontario based on academic achievement in Year 2. Preference will be given to students who have demonstrated the greatest increase in their annual academic average between the first year of university study and completion of the second year of university. Candidates must also demonstrate an aptitude for creative and innovative thought, exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities and commitment to active citizenship. Application forms can be obtained from the Office of the Registrar and must be returned to that office not later than September 30. A university selection committee will choose academically-qualified recipients based on the application and essay submission. Established through the generosity of Ted and Loretta Rogers and Family.
